North Division Week 6, 7 & 8

The last review Man City were the only team with a 100% record across the two divisions. Their last three games however have drawn a 1-1-1 record with a win away at Liverpool sandwiched between a loss to Derby and a draw against Newcastle. Man City are still top of the league however their six point league has been cut to just one by Everton.

Everton are currently on a 4 game winning run. The 4-0 win away at Blackburn was followed by wins against, Sunderland (3-1) Bolton (0-3) and Stoke (2-0) before they head up to Newcastle today. The goals have been shared about Everton’s team but the 3-0 win against Bolton seeing a brace from George Newell (pictured), son of former Everton and Blackburn striker Mike Newell. The 17 year old has been at Everton for 4 years.

Middlesbrough had also been on a good run also until last weekend. Having lost their opening two games they then went and won five on the bounce before losing 4-3 to Derby. Wins away at Man Utd (0-3) and against Sunderland (3-2) preceded the loss to Derby. The run has helped see Junior Mondal (pictured)  reach the top of the goal scoring chart for the North moving on to 7 goals, meanwhile Alex Pattison has scored 5 in the last 6 games.

Bolton meanwhile have seen their early season good form turn into a four game losing run. Losses to Stoke (0-1), Everton (0-3) and Sunderland (2-0) have seen them slip to 10th in the table. The lack of goals will surely be a concern with them not scoring since the 3-1 win away at Newcastle on 13th September spanning over 360 minutes now. U18 Manager David Lee will be hoping for a turn in fortunes at home to Wolves today.

Meanwhile Newcastle have seen an upturn recently in their form with the last two games seeing them earn four points. A very good 2-2 draw against Man City last weekend followed their first win of the season in a 5-2 win against Derby. Sean Longstaff () has moved on to 5 goals for the season now.

And last but certainly not least in my view, Blackburn. Whilst they are still rooted to the bottom of the league they have got their first win on the season with a 2-1 win away at Stoke however they did lose against Wolves (3-2) and Man Utd (1-4). Former Wigan and Leicester striker David Lowe () , Blackburn’s U18 manager, appears to still have plenty of work to do with the team.
